http://heliohost.org/
http://000webhost.com/
Free webhosting, also fat-free. Heliohost add support for python, RoR, java & postgreSQL but with restrictive signup (in term of daily quota). 000webhost offer more space but with standart feature. But none of all have good access time...

http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/windows:/mingw:/win32/openSUSE_Factory/
Kudos to people at opensuse for the flawless uniform cross-compile of most libraries and dependencies needed in mingw32 compilation. Check them out first! before trying to build yourself... they got compiled some of hard-to-compile stuff too like webkit, IBM's icu, pdcurses and many more.

MyPaint 0.9 is a pressure-sensitive digital painting software which have efficient workflow, powerful brush engine and extensive color selector.

The fastest 3D precision-modeling tool. SketchUp 8 and DoubleCad XT 3 (autocad 2d clone) is a great combo for architectural building work. And you are still provided with freeware plugins like DWG Import (for use with version 7?), OpenStudio-0.6.0 building analysis and a lot free plugins repository before thinking to upgrade to Pro version.

After a significant update in 2009 the discontinued Truespace 7.6 haven't become full release until the end of 2010. Still a commercial grade 3D suite software at no cost that try to be different but largely misunderstood. There is an exporter to Yafaray too.

ContextFree 2.2 (need .NET 2.0), amazing generative art software using grammar-like language. See rendered movie here

Though DrawSWF's toolset is currently minimal, the idea is so much fun: record your doodling as swf. Who knows if this will become preferred over screencapture movie for presenting concept.

::The Net::

Kompozer 0.8 beta. This version of the WYSIWYG web creation was much revamped than 0.7 or Nvu. For an expert, Bluefish 2 will looks more convenient.

Opera 11 is the most innovative and lowest resource-usage of freeware browser in existence

K-Meleon 1.6b, I've waiting for this for a half year, this is certainly the best lightweight browser whose memory draws are tied with Opera 10. Based on gecko 1.9 (means facebook is fine), with most of necessity bundled out of box

X-Chat 2.8 the all-round IRC client (GPL one)

The battle between WinSCP and Filezilla is almost ended. Hands up for Filezilla 3.3

::Office::

My choice of OpenOffice 3.2 variant with extensions. Suggest M$ Office people to install ODF (save) plugins!

Money Manager Ex 0.9 is another simple but user-friendly finance manager software for SOHO alike.

::ERP::

Certainly I'm not an ERP guy. But at least I have ever evaluate some ERP packages for deployment purpose. Hence I know some historical and architectural basic among them.

All the three share lots of similarities in database codes (postgresql) with Compiere as the originator and all are Java-based application.

OpenBravo has the easiest deployment of all and focus at web interface as client side. Have nice looking WebUI which also enable you to use lots of keyboard shortcuts too. Nonetheless please don't use IE6 instead use the fastest Javascript browser for it (FireFox or Chrome?) because once it sort thousands of rows, it's really slow. Their installer is simply the best.

ADempiere has the best of both, WebUI (using AJAX) and (sorry.. ugly!) java-based desktop application client  but it give you all the robustness that you can't get from OpenBravo. Hopefully you can't go wrong by choosing this.

Compiere, as I said before was the originator and currently is the most well documented but you can use any Compiere book to enrich others too. Compared to the other two, I think Compiere now started to lagged in feature because the company kept the big gun as commercial product. More or less its similar with ADempiere.

OpenERP formerly TinyERP (download here)
Rumor has OpenERP actually share some compiere database code (not sure). But afterall they have gone to distinctive way that looks appealing. OpenERP choose GTK+ (C-based) as their desktop client interface and use TurboGears (python based) as WebServer and WebUI. Development was mostly done around rapid python scripting as addon module which I found a brilliant idea than Java (heavy development).

xTuple PostBook
Has the least feature compared to others, PostBook's QT-based (C++) desktop client will stand above others despite lacking web interface. In some case I failed to recognise it as ERP due to a lot of missing feature and will consider PostBook as accounting+ application. The real ERP however is offered by xTuple as commercial product.

OFBiz is Opentaps on steroid, thats what you should know first. Both is a giant framework, compared to Compiere especially OFBiz although also based on Java EE. They are less popular than above previous packages but probably the most superior of all. Both targeted at E-commerce using WebUI.

 ::Utilities::

The lost file (official site has gone) of Regshot 2.0.1.66 (OSS? I think)

Notepad2 4.0 Mod version. The fastest enhanced notepad ever, but if you need tab-view use SciTE

Forget WinRAR (not to mention WinZip) cause overall nothing can beat 7-zip 9 archiver... now also available for handheld device

Creating windows' de-facto msi installer made easy! WarSetup 3 will do most what you need quickly

No fuss, portable and robust printscreen replacement. Greenshot 0.8 is always ready at your systray

 My favorite Virtual Machine (VM) for Windows with addition and extension. VirtualBox also available in GPL version here or try Qemu 0.12

X-CDRoast clone that beat most homage burning tool in term of features. Yet with cdrtfe 1.3, it's much user-friendly now. It really exploit the original cdrtools (not the misinformed "fake" tool on linux) and mkisofs at maximum level

My collection of freeware shell extensions for Windows XP. See details here

http://grepwin.googlecode.com/files/grepWin-1.5.5.msi
GrepWin is Mass search & replace utility that implement regular expression. A must have tool for anyone who working with text files like codes and html

::Audio Video::

ASIO4ALL, the universal (all soundcard) ASIO driver (freeware)

My build of Audacity 1.3.9 beta (multitrack wave editor) with bundled mp3 encoder, ffmpeg, sound effects and (hmm.. buggy) ASIO support.

http://202.55.147.10/sourceforge/l/project/lm/lmms/lmms/0.4.12/lmms-0.4.12-win32.exe
A FruityLoops (FL Studio) clone that despite its name "Linux Multimedia Studio" is pretty usable in Windows. Lots of instruments (including hydrogen drum) and samples to try with and good audio backend performance (SDL).

 Use Handbrake 0.9 to easily convert DVD titles to MP4 video

 Capture through webcam using VirtualDub 1.9 (this download bundled with GPL plugins). If you are new, I recommend to at least to install x264 (H264) vfw codec from here

An alternative to VirtualDub (minus capture ability) that seems have brighter future. With avisynth hook, Avidemux 2.5 is formidable video editing software

The unofficial mingw32 version of fontforge. A complete font creation software.

The front-end of LaTeX (currently bundled with MikTeX). Use Lyx 1.6 as easy as a word processor for math related writing / thesis

::IDE::

No need to spend hours compiling QT with VS2008 Express yourself, Nokia have done it for you in QT SDK 4.7 (with QT Creator 2.4), now with support for Windows 7, Meego and S60 target. The intuitive GUI framework now available as LGPL!

http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/8/e/e8eeb394-7f42-4963-a2d8-29559b738298/VS2008ExpressWithSP1ENUX1504728.iso

Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition SP1 probably just a freebies twist from Microsoft but still a decent compiler at least (combined with QT 4.6). You probably also want to download Windows 7 SDK, DirectX August 2009 SDK and MSDN

NetBeans 7.0 with Glassfish 3 (J2EE 6) java development suite. I don't know with Eclipse but many people hailed NetBeans for its excellent source code editing feature

 http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/sourceforge/c/project/co/codeblocks/Binaries/10.05/Windows/codeblocks-10.05-setup.exe
Code::Blocks is C/C++ agnostic IDE with complete feature and broad projects support. Download required tdm mingw32 compiler here

A clean and uncluttered (unlike most Python IDE) with all commercial-grade features (except GUI design). For me PyScripter is simply flying!

::Games::

Enigma, the die-hard puzzle game

OpenTTD is Transport Tycoon Deluxe based that gone to completely open source with the release of opensfx and opengfx (both needed). Personally it better than LinCity
